Intel 82566DM Gigabit Network Connection after Windows Updates results in numerous computers experiencing network slowness;
Event ID 30 shows
"Intel(R) 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network Connection is set up for auto-negotiation but the link partner is not configured for auto-negotiation. A duplex mismatch may occur."
Thank you for all of your suggestions (none of which worked); this is what worked, thanks to a fix the network admin found:
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) was corrupted
Control Panel, User Accounts, Advanced, Advanced, Groups, Administrators, Add, Change domain to LOCAL PC NAME
Advanced, Click Find Now to display all possible local accounts, add NETWORK SERVICE and LOCAL SERVICE. Click OK.
Reboot
WMI will work

You can allways do a driver roolback
Just go to Device manager, Open Netwrok card properties and on Diver Tab do a Driver Rool Back
Then go to Intel site and find new driver, as these provided my Micosoft aren't so reliable after all.
After Windows update the Intel driver connects to the network, but I can no longer see the speed tab on the Intel card, so I cannot tell whether the driver is connecting at Auto or set at 100/Full; and lots of users are reporting that network speed is degraded. I am getting ready to do a system restore on one of the computers and then re-install the Windows updates one at a time to try to figure out which update is the culprit. I did try to reinstall the Intel driver, but that did not restore it to the way it was before. Something has compromised this driver.
The duplex mismatch can definitely cause a slow connection as you would be having data trying to go both directions down a one way street.
I would try 2 things.
1) (The easy one) Manually set the negotiation speed in the driver properties. Open device manager (Right click "Computer" and click manage and then select device manager) right click on your network card and click properties and then go to the "Advanced" tab and check the option for something named "Link & Duplex" Or link speed, depending on the manufacturer the name differs slightly, but it should be set to "Auto-Negotiate" Right now. If you have a Gigabit router, set it to 1000MB or a 100MB for 10/100MB Router. If this doesn't fix your slow speed. Try option 2.
2) Open windows update and click on the hyperlink for "View Update History" near the information when the last scan occurred. and see if your Network card driver was one of the last things updated. If it was i would go into device manager again.
Select your network card, right click and and click properties, then go to the driver tab and roll back the driver to previous version. Let me know if that fixes your auto-negotiate. This may have been caused by a bad driver patch. If that fixes he link speed you could try to download the current driver from the manufacturer's support page and try that. If it goes back to slow speed I would just roll back the driver again and keep the old one, don't install a new driver until a new patch comes out.

Can you pls. check VEN_ and DEV_ IDs? -you have them under Details tab?

Try to grab right driver from link above - ake aure you select right one for x86 or x64 OS.
I would roll back to the previous driver or download the latest one from Intels download web site as people have previously suggested. Drivers are the one thing you have to be very careful about downloading from Windows update as thet don't always work...
